A Clear Vision for Canada: Universal Access to Eye Care
Our eyes are our window to the world. They shape how we learn, work, and connect with
others. Yet, too many Canadians struggle to afford basic vision care. Routine eye exams
and prescription lenses are essential for maintaining quality of life, preventing vision loss,
and catching serious health conditions early—yet they remain out of reach for many due to
cost barriers.
As your independent candidate, I believe that no one should have to choose between clear
vision and financial stability. That’s why I am committed to making vision health
appointments—eye exams, screenings, and essential diagnostics—free for all Canadians.
By integrating vision care into our public healthcare system, we can ensure that every
person, regardless of income, age, or location, has access to the care they need.
This policy is not just about healthcare; it’s about opportunity. Clear vision supports
childhood development, increases workplace productivity, and helps seniors maintain
independence. Investing in preventive eye care reduces long-term healthcare costs by
catching conditions like glaucoma, diabetes-related vision loss, and cataracts before they
become severe.
Canada has the resources to ensure universal access to eye care. As your representative, I
will push for a national vision health strategy that works with provinces, optometrists, and
healthcare professionals to deliver free eye exams for all. Let’s bring clarity to our
healthcare system—because every Canadian deserves to see their future clearly.
