Empowering Canadians with Essential Skills
In a rapidly changing world, every Canadian deserves access to fundamental skills that improve safety,
employment opportunities, and overall well-being. As your independent candidate, I will advocate for a
nationally funded Basic Skills Program that ensures all Canadians can access essential training—at no
cost. This initiative will help individuals succeed in their personal and professional lives while
strengthening our economy and communities.
Key Components of the Basic Skills Program:
• First Aid & CPR Certification – Life-saving skills should not be a luxury. Free training ensures
more Canadians can act in emergencies and protect their loved ones.
• Food Safety Training – From restaurants to home kitchens, safe food handling prevents illness
and improves job opportunities in the food industry.
• Financial Literacy – Budgeting, credit management, and smart investing should be accessible
knowledge, helping Canadians build a stable financial future.
• Digital Literacy & Cybersecurity – Basic tech skills, online safety, and cybersecurity awareness
empower Canadians in the digital age.
• Workplace Safety Certification – WHMIS and other occupational safety training reduce
workplace accidents and create safer job environments.
Why This Matters:
Economic Growth – More skilled workers mean a stronger workforce and a more resilient economy.
Public Safety – Widespread first aid knowledge and workplace safety training reduce injuries and fatalities.
Increased Employment – Certifications like food safety and digital literacy open doors to better job opportunities.
Accessible for All – No Canadian should be held back by financial barriers to essential knowledge.
How We Make It Happen:
• Partner with educational institutions and community organizations to deliver free training.
• Provide online and in-person learning options for flexibility.
• Ensure funding covers certification costs so there are no out-of-pocket expenses.
A well-equipped population is a stronger, more independent, and more prosperous Canada. Let’s invest
in skills that benefit everyone.
